Sensory Processing Disorders

This is a condition in which the brain has trouble receiving and responding to information that comes through different senses. Children with this condition can be oversensitive to things in the environment like loud sound, they may be uncoordinated, or may not engage in play. This disorder is commonly seen in developmental conditions like Autism.

Treatment is called sensory integration therapy and is generally provided by occupational therapists.
